Glenwood was just right for a layover, as we could walk all over, the county fair was on, and the lake beautiful. The first time we walked to town, we encountered a congregation conducting their church service in a park, complete with hymns sung to a small band accompaniment.
The second time we walked to town, we went to the restaurant recommended on the waterfront. First we enjoyed beers outside at an umbrella table along the waterfront, then decided to eat inside as the sun angle made things too bright. We had talked about jambalaya all day, but we all decided to order the walleye dinner instead, which was a most excellent choice. Our waiter was great, and he presented us with a large plate of their special dessert nachos as he was impressed with our trip. It was huge--just right to split four ways.
We head south and east Monday and will keep an eye out for recommendations about the breakfast place.
